T20 Cup

June 17, 2009 by OCL Webmaster

Each cricket year in the OCL (Oregon Cricket League) begins with a T20 (also called "20-20") tournament. Each team bowls 20 overs and there is a special wide ball penality to keep the duration of the game shorter. Each wide ball bowled uptil the end of the 15th overs incurrs 2 runs as penalty and there is now re-bowling of that ball. That means, a bowler can end up bowling all 6 bowls as wides and be done with his over giving 12 runs even when the batsman has not even touched any bowl. This rule is specifically customized for OCL to discourage wide bowls and keep the duration of the game shorter to fit the busy lifestyle of US.

NWCC (Northwest Cricket Club) has won the OCL 2009 T20 cup by defeating BCC (Beaverton Cricket Club) in the finals held on June 13th, 2009. Match summaries of all the T20 matches held so far are as follows.
